Well I took up with her & would help her across the foot log also. The log was several feet above the water. One nite she lost her balance & depended on me to hold her. I got scared - broke & ran. I heard her hit the water just as I hit the bank running at full speed.

... Mr. Jump closed his little Sunday School. He took Lee & I to the Baptist church & introduced us. The good Baptists took us in like millionaires. Asked us to sing in the choir & what a discord it must have been.
